 Apples

We did it! We made the applesauce today.  I still need to clean the stove, but the pie and the sauce are finished.  From tree to freezer.  You have to understand, I am not the canning, putting up food for the winter type of person.  We mostly did it so Brian could participate.  He was so much fun.  A positive attitude helped.  Ok, I admit I did grump once or twice, but I held up pretty well.  All in all a good Saturday, I was able to get alot done.

Have a good Sunday everyone.

Back Home

Tammy and Steph Just back from visiting Tammy at Greenville, IL.  She was in a production of The Miracle Worker playing Helen Keller.  She played this role 3 years ago as a senior in high school.  She once again brought life to Helen portraying her childhood as a deaf, mute, blind girl struggling to reach out to the world.  Her teacher Annie Sullivan was young, but as stubborn as Helen and finally reached her with one word - water.  If you haven't seen the Patty Duke version of the movie (the one where Patty won the Oscar for Helen, not the one where she plays Annie Sullivan) go find it.  you'll get a good idea of  her role.  I may be partial, but Tammy did a wonderful job, more mature than 3 years ago and worthy of an Oscar in my book.  I don't know how to upload videos yet, but here is a youtube site with with final scene.  The dining scenes are better, but much longer to watch.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iftU7_H_-6w  I also added a few photos

Anyway, it's good to be home.  We took Jerry's 82 year old mom and family friend Imogene (70something)  I'm glad they were able to make the trip and see Tammy in what will probably be her last play, but, how do I say this nicely?  I guess I'll suffice to say it's good to be home.  Mama always said, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.  Mom and Dad are doing well, I talked to them on the way home, thanks for your prayers.

I'm off work tomorrow, so I need to make a list of things to do and get to bed. - Goodnight.

A practically perfect day

I spent today in the company of 4 gentlemen and several thousand cheering Purdue fans.   Hubby Jerry (a Purdue grad) was given an extra ticket for today’s game against Michigan.  He goes to every home game with his brother Norm, and they bring 2 other people along.  Tammy called and told Jerry she and her “boy”-friend would drive over too, I couldn’t resist an opportunity to spend time with her.  Then I saw how wonderful the weather was going to be and commented that maybe Brian and I should go along, and they agreed.  The weather was perfect; Brian was the best two year old in the stadium.  And why not, there were choo-choos and cheerleaders and marching bands and the world’s largest marching drum (it goes BOOM) and did I mention the choo-choos?  Brian loves choo-choos.  Tammy and Daniel did come, we saw our neice Nicole.  Her brother Ben came with us and he was so sweet to Brian.  Our friend J.T. who came with us was just as wonderful.  We tailgated before and after the game with all the other fantastic Purdue fans.  Purdue won 48 to 42 so we saw lots of touchdowns, one fake punt, had a great time.  Yep, a practically perfect day.

Indiana wants me!

Found this today, just for fun.  As I sit looking out a red maple and a golden oak against a perfect blue sky.

Ain't God Good to Indiana?

by William Herschell

"Ain't God good to Indiana?
Folks, a feller never knows
Just how close he is to Eden
Till, sometime, he ups an' goes
Seekin' fairer, greener pastures
Than he has right here at home,
Where there's sunshine in the clover
An' honey in th' comb;
Where the ripples on th' river
Kinda chuckles as they flow--
Ain't God good to Indiana?
Ain't He, fellers? Ain't He, though?

"Ain't God good to Indiana?
Seems to me He has a way
Gittin' me all outta humor
Just to see how long I'll stay
When I git th' gypsy feelin'
That I'd like to find a spot
Where th' clouds ain't quite so restless,
Or th' sun don't shine so hot.
But, I don't git far, I'll tell you,
Till I'm whisperin' soft an' low:
Ain't God good to Indiana?
Ain't He, fellers? Ain't He, though?

"Ain't God good to Indiana?
Other spots may look as fair,
But they lack th' soothin' somethin'
In th' Hoosier sky and air.
They don't have that snug-up feelin'
Like a mother gives a child;
They don't soothe you, soul an' body,
With their breezes soft an' mild.
They don't know th' joys of Heaven
Have their birthplace here below;
Ain't God good to Indiana?
Ain't He, fellers? Ain't He, though?"

William Herschell
Legendary Indiana Journalist

I better get to work now.
